Didn't We

The story behind is sort of my story - except Jimmy Webb (MacArthur Park, Galveston, Wichita Lineman) could actually write music. He didn't sing well - I've got that on him, I suppose. I sang this one solo when I was in highschool having learned it from Richard Harris's overdramatic album. A lot of folks covered it, apparently. Heartbreakers were a specialty of mine.

I could likely sing worse, but no way could I begin to write anywhere that goo.

Writers provide the fresh content. If they can then also deliver the goods in an entertaining fashion, they have a shot at the top. If the Beatles didn't write/create their own stuff but relied on doing cover songs, can we imagine their career path?
