A courageous woman, who has publicized her quarantine in hope that it will influence others -- to the benefit of public health.

Her conversion from Anti-Vax started with the Disneyland outbreak and was completed in response to observing her family's near-miss from a measles outbreak within their social circle.

Unfortunately, the "catch up" schedule worked out with her family doctor was not quick enough to protect them from this whooping cough infection.

I'm not sure what purpose it serves, but all of the social-media promotion of this story that I've seen has the chronology wrong, as if their current plight is what cause them to convert to the side of science. They link to her own article at http://thescientificparent.org/, but obviously don't expect anyone to click through.
